 Listeria monocytogenes (PCR)

The Listeria monocytogenes (PCR) test uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology to detect the DNA of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterial pathogen responsible for listeriosis in animals and humans. This pathogen is known to cause serious health issues, including septicemia, encephalitis, and reproductive disorders such as abortions. Listeriosis is of significant zoonotic concern, particularly in food-producing animals, due to its ability to contaminate food supplies. The PCR test offers rapid, sensitive, and specific detection of L. monocytogenes, enabling early diagnosis and prompt intervention. This test is particularly valuable for identifying infections in symptomatic animals and for monitoring contamination in high-risk environments like farms and food production facilities.
